A small and curious painting, rendered with a tailored hand, depicteth a lonely dwelling said to be the abode of a witch in the dark woods near Salem. The house, blackened with age and shadow, leaneth crooked upon its foundations, as though time itself would see it swallowed by the earth. The windows, like glowing eyes, glimmer faintly with an unnatural light, and the trees about it twist in strange and crooked shapes. The air of the house is a mystical fog.
